How excited I was to get my “Lite-Brite” back in 1973! For some odd reason, I always thought that if I didn’t smile for the camera, it would be a cool “pissy” look- like a Supermodel. Now…

Boy do I have alot to smile about now! I have met the man of my dreams, I have a career that I love and we have a new edition who will be celebrating his first Christmas with us-

Ollie. But I’ll always remember my two lil’ buddies that I lost just before Christmas last year-

So you know what? Take a couple of moments during this Holiday Season to turn off your cell phones, blackberries and computers and tell the people whom you adore the most in life how much they mean to you. Isn’t that what really matters?

Coming in January! New tips and ideas and the very “Best of 2009″ weddings!!

And don’t forget Bride’s-to-be…

To come to the studio for a visit!

bon jours and birthdays…

November 18, 2009 - Leave a Response

I’ve recently celebrated my 43rd birthday. 43? Huh? When did THAT happen? Where did the time go. Oh-no the wrinkles. I told Morgan that I wanted to get an “eye lift”. Mabey this is what I’d look like-

All kidding aside! We went up to Montreal for a birthday weekend. Lets have a look-

It was a beautiful, sunny Autumn day-

Actually, it was FREEZING.  The wind was **** and ****, so cold as ****!

We stayed at this ultra-modern hotel in The Historical  section of Montreal-”Le Petit Hotel”

This was the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in. Plush down pillows and comforters. A “white noise” machine with these “spa-type” sounds of wind chimes and the ocean. I just wanted to take naps! Well…we can take naps at home for crying out loud!

Look at this shower! They had adjustable shower heads. Someday, it would be cool to have a shower with jets all over the place. And a glass sink? How the heck do you keep this clean whilst brushing your teeth?!-

Morgan and I got friendly with a nice French lady at the local breakfast shop. French people are petit, thin and have lots of energy. She was like “you should walk to this church, then you can walk 6 miles to the right, 16 miles to the left, up 1,260 stairs, have a cup of tea, then walk another 37 miles. Morgan and I looked at each other and said “we’ll just drive”…

Yep, lets stuff our faces, get in the car and drive…

www.lindajaephotography.com

We drove, laughed and saw some of the sights. It is amazing just how SMALL the city of Montreal really is. Here’s what I got-

Vespa Scooters rock!

Feels good to be anonymous once in a while-

My “angel face” And finally…

When we were walking down the street, we came across an interesting “prop” in the display window of an art gallery. Look!-

Isn’t this a scream!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes, a real live dog in the display window, looking ultra hip in camouflage. I thought he looked like an “ED”-

Or mabey a “Burt Reynolds”

Amy and Chris

PR3B3896677

One of the things I love most about photographing weddings is that I never know what to expect. Everything is so meticulously planned, yet un-predictable…all at the same time.  Being a great photographer not only means being able to relate from a 2 year-old to a 92 year-old, but we also have to be a planner, a shoulder to cry on and aware of any given situation at all times. In other words, attention to detail is a must, all while remaining “as cool as a cucumber” (this is me by the way)-

IMG_0015

Which brings me to my funky bride Amy’s story. The ceremony was supposed to be at the top of Wachusett Mountain. September was a gorgeous month weather-wise. It only rained a few times out of the whole month. Guess what?! It rained on Amy’s day.

IMG_0159

Some people would get “upset” over the weather situation. Hey, take it easy guys-

IMG_0027

IMG_0028

Not Amy, she  had a smile on her face the whole time. The weather didn’t matter. How much are you lovin’ her hat right now?!-

IMG_0026

Strike a pose! Love the tea-length dress and…

IMG_0249

RED shoes!!!!!!!!!!!!

IMG_0060

Amy’s brother Ryan was such a big help to me with the umbrella. Thanks Ryan!

Le Groom Chris

IMG_0088

Anticipation-

IMG_0116

I worship magazines like Vogue and Vanity Fair for the fashion photography. Whenever I saw this picture, I screamed!!!!!!!!!!!

IMG_0205

So back to my story abouth the weather. Just because it rains on your wedding day, doesn’t mean things aren’t going to work out. In fact, the rain can work  in your favor. As it did on Amy’s day. One of her bridesmaids bought umbrellas for Amy and the girls. Because it rained, this is what I was able to get-

My boyfriend Morgan grew up in Conneticut. When he was 10 years old, his family moved out to Montana. A completely different way of life. When Morgan was 18, he got into Berklee and stayed in MA. He took me out to Montana to meet his family-

IMG_5086

Last year was difficult. I lost my two buddies; Mr. Dee Dees and Boozy-

img185

Mr. Dee Dees was “The King of Bitterness”. He was fat, he was grumpy. He would play “cutesy” when it was mealtime. He was 14 years old when he developed a servere case of diabetes. It was a hard decision, but I thought it would be best to let him go. That was last November 11th. Then-

IMG_9416

My best buddy in the whole world, Boozy got sick. I couldn’t believe it. He just stopped eating. It turned out that he had a large, cancerous tumor in his stomach. It was too late to operate. There was nothing that could be done and it was devestating. I lost Boozy last December 8th-

IMG_5086

Two fine boys, who were inseparable. Suddenly, I lost both of them within a month. Right before the holidays. Looking back at pictures, I can now see how sick they both looked, but I had no idea. I know, I know, you’re probably getting teary-eyed. So am I as I write this. There IS a happy ending, I promise. Wait, lets get some tissues and continue-

img049

Last Christmas was pretty much a blur for me. How could I lose BOTH my boys?! I needed a break. I didn’t even want to think about getting another cat. THEN, one April day, I looked at Morgan and said “lets go to the shelter, I’m ready”. Low and behold I brought home this terror of a cat…

IMG_9249

Mr. Bubbles

IMG_9246

Mr. Bubbles, a three year old ferral cat, was found at a Laundrymat and placed in a shelter. He was a demon kitty. Just look at his expression! We brought Mr. Bubbles home and he would be sweet one minute, then out of nowhere, bite us. He was crazy. Crazy. My experience with Mr. Bubbles lasted a short two hours. Then, he went back to the shelter. I guess there wasn’t a connection-

old-lady-smoking-cigar[1]

Boy, I needed a break after that. Was I ready for another pet? Or were things ok just the way they were? Afterall, no one compares to the two lil’ guys.

IMG_65977

Morgan and I were in Natick one day a few weeks ago and stopped into Pet World. Just to look. There were about 20 cats up for adoption. I thought I might want a small kitten. There was one cat that stuck his paw out of the cage and tapped Morgan on the shoulder. I kid you not. We visited with this cat for a good 45 minutes and fell in love with him. Afterall, he chose us.  Here, I present to you… OLLIE:

IMG_71466

How goofy is Ollie?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Look at the lop-sided markings. Isn’t he a scream?!! He is two-years old and such a sweetie. Funny, he has alot of the same personality as my buddy Boozy had. Lets look at some more pix!

Ollie is such a sweet cat. He is gentle, lovable and playful. He doesn’t really get into much, uses he scratching post and is well-behaved. He is so affectionate. He is really a joy to have in our lives. I’m a firm believer in the “timing” of things-

Ollie enjoys watching HGTV and late-night snacking-

So far, it has been a pretty “smokin” wedding season. This week, I’m going to feature Marybeth and Josh’s wedding. Here they are!-

IMG_0300

Funny story. I had met Marybeth and Josh last summer when they booked me do photograph their wedding. A couple of months later, I went to see my boyfriend Morgan play with a Jazz band. I was taking pictures of the gig at a distance. During a break, the drummer came up to me and said- “Are you Linda Jae?”. I said “Josh?”. Josh (above) was the drummer that night. I really IS a small world!

IMG_0183

Daddy’s little girl-

IMG_0153

I love cutting off people’s heads. “What!” you might say. I mean this in a good way. In this image, you see just a peek of the bridesmaid on the right and that is ok. It tells a story and that is where the emotion comes in-

IMG_0152

How old do you think these town signs are? I really don’t know, but they look wild-

IMG_0081

Marybeth is ready!

IMG_0051

And so is Josh and his posse-

IMG_0144

Josh was smitten after Marybeth put the ring on his finger!-

IMG_0143

Please! Do kiss your bride-

IMG_0168

Which bridesmaid do you think is Marybeth’s sister?!-

IMG_0208

I LOVE this pix. I simply asked Josh and his parents to get “close and huggy”, and this is what we got. How fun!-

IMG_0368

Josh is an amazing drummer. His father is a musician as well! The band consisted of musician friends. During the reception, Josh joined in. His dad is on the far right playing keyboards. The crowd went crazy!!
